Overview

For over 100 years, Maguire has been an industry leader in the fabrication, construction, and maintenance of water storage tanks and elevated water towers. The Shop Flux Core/Stick Welder will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products using Flux Core & Stick welding equipment and techniques for the new tank division.

Responsibilities

  • Plans details of work order procedures and gathers required tools and materials.
  • Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques.
  • Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to prevent overheating or damage.
  • Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
  • Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
  • Notifies supervisor of faulty equipment or defective materials.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of stick or Flux Cored welding experience.
  • Must be able to pass a company weld test.
  • Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding.
  • Basic understanding of design techniques and tools for technical plans.
  • Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments.
  • Basic understanding of mathematics related to welding assignments.

Additional Information

  • Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
  • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability for precision work.
  • Must be able to see details at close range.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for Stick and Flux-Core work. Stick (SMAW) burns a flux-coated consumable rod and needs no shielding gas, so it works in wind, rain, and on dirty or rusted steel.
