Overview

The TIG Welder is responsible for high-precision welding on metal components for aircraft and aerospace systems, ensuring compliance with stringent structural, safety, and regulatory standards. This role involves close collaboration with preparation and finishing teams to produce defect-free welds that meet exact specifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform precision welding using TIG (GTAW) and/or other approved methods.
• Weld components made from materials such as stainless steel, titanium, nickel, cobalt, and specialty alloys.
• Follow detailed welding procedures, blueprints, and specifications to produce high-quality welds.
• Set up and adjust welding equipment based on PC, WPS, and work instructions.
• Ensure proper joint preparation and fit-up prior to welding.
• Clean, grind, and prepare metal surfaces by removing rust, scale, oil, paint, contaminants, and defects.
• Bevel, shape, and smooth edges to ensure proper weld penetration and fit-up.
• Measure and mark according to specifications and blueprints.
• Select and maintain appropriate tools and abrasives for prep work.
• Blend welds to achieve smooth, dimensionally correct surfaces.
• Remove excess weld material, shell, shrink, etc.
• Polish and finish surfaces to meet customer or project specifications.
• Prepare finished components for inspection or shipment.
• Operate power tools such as angle grinders, sanders, and polishing equipment safely.
• Produce welds that meet standards for strength, penetration, and appearance.
• Ensure blends meet quality standards, including proper contour and appearance.
• Inspect welds visually and with measuring tools to verify conformance to specifications.
• Identify and correct defects such as porosity, cracking, or incomplete fusion.
• Support or prepare parts for non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
• Maintain accurate documentation of weld procedures, materials, and inspections.
• Follow all applicable standards and adhere to strict quality, traceability, and documentation requirements.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, welding symbols, and engineering instructions.
• Ensure compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
• Follow all safety protocols and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain a clean, organized, and FOD-free work area.
• Perform routine maintenance and care of welding tools and equipment.
• Collaborate with preppers, blenders, inspectors, and supervisors to meet production and quality goals.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a welder, preferably in a precision or regulated industry.
• Proficiency in TIG welding (GTAW), especially for thin materials.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical documents.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to work with tight tolerances and meet strict quality standards.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle materials safely.

• Pay: $28.00 - $30.71 per hour.
• Expected hours: 40.0 per week.
• Night Shift (Preferred), Day Shift (Preferred).
