Job Description

Overview

The night shift fabricator is responsible for the fabrication of handrails, walkways, decks, drill tooling, and support equipment, as well as welding casing and other fabrication projects as needed. This position requires a commitment to safety and the ability to work independently on various fabrication tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safe work practices and procedures.
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts.
  • Repair and fabricate damaged or worn parts.
  • Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges.
  • Read and understand blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Weld broken parts and structural members using Tig, Mig, and Arc welding.
  • Weld and fabricate items such as drilling-related parts, handrails, walkways, and guards.

Requirements

  • Exhibit a strong work ethic with the drive and desire to learn and perform tasks efficiently.
  • Maintain effective and collaborative workplace relationships, treating others with dignity and respect.
  • Knowledge and ability to use a CNC plasma table and CNC brake press.
  • Knowledge of manual mill and lathe.
  • Knowledge and ability to properly set and adjust the machine for welding.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate an ironworker and tubing bender.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Experience repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to safely use and operate shop tools and equipment.
  • Safely operate forklifts, other lift equipment, and/or cranes to move material as required.
  • Must be able to lift 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and perform various physical tasks.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, and a Motor Vehicle Report.

Additional Information

  • Work schedule is 5 days on/2 days off from 4:30 pm to 3:30 am.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
