Job Description

Overview

Marine Exhaust Systems, Inc. is a leader in premier-quality marine exhaust systems, serving the Commercial, Military, and Pleasure Yacht Industries for over 50 years. Responsibilities

  • Fabricates and repairs metal using Tig, Mig, or Spot Welding.
  • Ensures that welded material meets blueprint specifications under direct supervision.
  • Assists other departments as necessary.
  • Maintains awareness of and practices safe work habits.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Prior knowledge or experience is a bonus; willing to train the right candidate.
  • General skills or knowledge of metal fabrication and welding experience is a plus.
  • Punctual, reliable, and conscientious with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and drive projects.
  • Strong understanding of welding techniques and metal properties.
  • Familiarity with welding safety standards and regulations.
  • Ability to operate hand tools and power tools effectively.
  • Knowledgeable at reading and following blueprints is a plus.
  • Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform job functions.
  • Works under immediate supervision; primary job functions require exercising independent judgment.
  • Operate and maintain welding equipment and tools.
  • Perform layout, cutting, and fitting of materials to meet specifications.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
