Overview

Hope Power & Industrial Inc, a manpower resources provider to specialty contractors and industrial facilities, is accepting resumes for an immediate opening for pipe welders and pipefitters in Greenville County, SC. Only candidates with industrial plant experience will be considered for various industrial projects.

Responsibilities

  • Select type and size of pipe and related materials according to job plans and specifications.
  • Inspect work sites to determine presence of obstructions.
  • Plan sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers.
  • Cut pipe using hacksaw, pipe cutters, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine.
  • Thread pipe using threading machine.
  • Bend pipe by hand or with pipe-bending machine.
  • Join piping by means of threaded, caulked, wiped, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.
  • Secure pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers using hand tools.
  • Test piping system for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks.
  • May weld hanging fixtures to structural steel members.
  • Make decisions based on measurable criteria.
  • Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
  • Lift and carry objects of varying weights.
  • Detect, recognize and respond to dangerous conditions or situations.
  • Safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops, and other elevated positions, as well as confined spaces.
  • Effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds.
  • Safely operate all involved equipment and tools.
  • Stand for long periods of time, bend consistently, and work in confined spaces with limited access.

Requirements

  • Must have 3-5 years industrial pipe welding experience.
  • Experience with TIG, STICK, and MIG welding.
  • Ability to visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
  • Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools.
  • Must be capable of standing for long periods of time and bending consistently.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces with limited access.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG, TIG, and Stick work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
