Responsibilities

• Perform production within prescribed codes and procedures.
• Administer a 2F Evaluation to determine skillset and knowledge base.
• Pass and qualify a GMAW 2G weld test that meets visual acceptance criteria.
• Read and interpret drawings to determine required weld sizes.
• Adjust welding machines within parameters of welding procedure specifications.
• Use oxy-fuel torch to pre-heat parts to be welded.
• Use GMAW welding process to weld components or assemblies.
• Clean weld joints and finished welds using chipping hammer, wire brush, and grinders.
• Drill various size holes on pole assembly as required by drawings.
• Visually inspect work to ensure compliance with drawings and code requirements.
• Measure weld sizes using a weld gauge.
• Use mechanical rolling equipment to optimize positioning of weld joints.
• Assist fitter in assembling pole assembly when called upon.
• Actively seek and support continuous improvement activities.
• Maintain regular and on-time attendance.
• Maintain a positive attitude and get along with coworkers.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• GMAW (Spray Arc Transfer) welding experience preferred.
• Must be able to read and write.
• Ability to read blueprints required.
• Must be able to stand 100% of scheduled shift.
• Must be capable of bending, stooping, crawling under or over, and occasional climbing of stairs/ladders.
• Must possess adequate hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and stamina.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs.
