Job Description

Overview

MDC has been producing high-quality vacuum products and systems since 1975, relying on talented employees to deliver exceptional quality and customer service. The Orbital Welder position involves fabricating custom chambers and components while adhering to strict tolerances.

Responsibilities

  • Perform orbital welding of tubing and components.
  • Set up and calibrate the power supply with the correct welding program.
  • Set up gas mixing equipment.
  • Create and log weld coupons.
  • Meet or exceed project requirements through manual fabrication.
  • Collaborate closely with machinists throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Familiarity with metallurgy, primarily stainless steel.
  • Know proper weld settings for various materials and filler rod selection.
  • Produce vacuum-tight welds in hard-to-reach areas.
  • Identify proper order of operations and set up target point fixtures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or certification from a welding training program.
  • At least 7-10 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups.
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply them to practical situations.
  • Ability to work with team members and provide leadership to lower level welders.
  • Must pay close attention to details on blueprints.
  • Ability to follow work rules.
