Overview

Audubon is seeking a Quality Control Inspector for their Houston, TX office to perform inspections of fabricated pipe spools and structural components according to customer specifications and company work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform 100% visual inspection of welds in final structural/piping steel elements.
  • Report directly to the Quality Control Manager about any quality deficiencies in final parts.
  • Track quality deficiencies per weld.
  • Report directly to QC Manager about mistakes or welding problems and track daily information.
  • Ensure supervisors and employees understand and adhere to the Quality Control Program.
  • Receive instructions from QC manager about project-specific inspection and testing and perform those tasks.
  • Collaborate with departments and external suppliers regarding quality concerns.
  • Monitor shop activities to ensure conformance with applicable codes, standards, policies, procedures, and/or drawing specifications.
  • Perform inspections on projects requiring expertise and knowledge under the direct supervision of the Quality Control Manager.
  • Maintain equipment operation and calibration.
  • Assist the Quality Control Manager with welders' qualifications.

Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with evaluation related to quality and codes issues.
  • Proficient in the use of inspection tools and measuring equipment such as tape measure and square.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural steel blueprints.
  • Certification as a Welding Inspector or NDE Certifications is a plus.
  • Experience in structural steel inspection using AWS D1.1 Welding Code.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) is a plus.
  • Ability to complete all required documentation and maintain traceability.
  • Complete understanding of quality control inspections for the manufacturing process.
  • Ability to communicate and resolve issues in a professional and tactful manner.
  • Must adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as necessary.
  • Must understand the stages of production with the ability to learn.
  • Ability to foster and maintain excellent relationships.
  • Familiarity with technical documentation preparation.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, etc.
