Overview

Whirlwind Steel is a premier metal building manufacturer specializing in the design, fabrication, and delivery of top-quality metal structures. The Tacker is responsible for temporarily fastening metal components together using tack welds to prepare steel structures for final welding.

Responsibilities

  • Tack weld clips, plates, and steel components to structural members.
  • Align and position metal parts according to blueprints and specifications.
  • Assist welders by preparing materials for final welding.
  • Use measuring tools to verify spacing, fit, and alignment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
  • Handle and move steel components using appropriate equipment when needed.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of welding or metal fabrication preferred.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and follow basic prints.
  • Comfortable working with steel and fabrication tools.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift materials as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and teamwork skills.
