Job Description
Overview
Join BNSF Railway as a Railcar Repair (Carman) in Los Angeles, CA, where you will be part of a team dedicated to safety, inclusion, and excellence in maintaining and repairing railcars that support the movement of essential products across the nation.
Responsibilities
- Inspect railcar frames, bodies, safety appliances, and wheels for defects.
- Maintain, replace, inspect, and repair air brake components.
- Operate electrical and gas welding equipment and acetylene/MAPP torches.
- Operate specialized off-highway motor vehicles such as forklifts and mobile cranes.
- Engage in daily safety conversations and adhere to safety regulations.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to work safely in diverse and extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs without assistance.
- Possess a valid driver's license.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Ability to visually distinguish colors and comprehend verbal communication.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at various heights.
