Overview

Millennium Space Systems (MSS), a part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security, is a small satellite company focused on national security space. They are seeking a Mechanical Technician Senior to support the fabrication, integration, and testing of space flight systems in El Segundo, California.

Responsibilities

• Assembles, installs, tests, checks out and inspects mechanical spacecraft assemblies by interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings and specifications.
• Performs second party verifications and visually inspects mechanical assemblies to drawings and specifications.
• Operates various materials handling equipment including forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Operates a wide range of machine tools including drill presses and grinders.
• Interfaces with Design and Manufacturing Engineering on procedural issues.
• Supports in other mechanical areas as required by leadership.
• Cross-trains and mentors new hires.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• More than 5 years of experience with Structures Assembly, Mechanical Assembly, Electrical Assembly, and/or Final Assembly.
• More than 3 years of experience following written and verbal work instructions.
• More than 3 years of experience in working with blueprints and assembly drawings.
• More than 3 years of experience in setting and using precision measuring tools.
• More than 3 years of experience working with materials like Adhesives and Composites.
• Ability to stand and move to handle products for extended periods.
• Capable of lifting 20lbs or more on a frequent basis.

Additional Information

• This position is primarily 2nd shift with potential additional shift requirements.
• This is an hourly union-represented position governed by the Cabinet Makers, Millmen and Industrial Carpenters Union.
