Overview

Step into a hands-on role as an Aluminum MIG/TIG Fabrication Welder at Ericson Manufacturing, a family-owned company since 1918, dedicated to designing and building temporary power, lighting, and safety electrical products for safer jobsites across North America.

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced welding techniques and best practices to meet print requirements.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings and weld symbols with accuracy.
  • Select and use correct wire/filler for various steel alloys, aluminum, and select exotic materials.
  • Set up fixtures and establish appropriate parameters (amps, volts, etc.).
  • Perform finish grinding using manual and power tools; clean/prep parts for assembly.
  • Clamp, tack, heat-bend, bolt, and grind parts to meet technical requirements.
  • Operate accessory equipment; perform GTAW/GMAW/FCAW/PAW and related processes.
  • Control fit-up, heating, and welding to minimize distortion, expansion, overheating, and shrinkage.
  • Inspect completed work and compare to samples/specifications for quality compliance.
  • Prepare and set up tools/equipment (e.g., SMAW, GMAW, and related welding equipment).
  • Arrange welded components for assembly using squares, calipers, and rulers.
  • Maintain welding equipment; assist with fixturing design and production repairs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on welding experience, with emphasis on aluminum MIG and TIG.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and complete each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Read and understand electrical/mechanical blueprints, production/assembly instructions, parts lists, and notes.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor issues as they arise.
  • Preferred: AWS D1.2 aluminum certification (or equivalent). Must be willing to obtain if not currently held.

Additional Information

  • Primary shift: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Mon–Thu), four 10-hour days.
  • Expect overtime opportunities based on demand—often on Fridays.
  • Alternative shift options: 4:00 AM – 2:30 PM (Mon–Thu) or 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Mon–Thu).
