Overview

ABGi USA is recruiting for a Mechanical Drafter to join an engineering team in Sun Valley, California. The client is a global manufacturer specializing in advanced automated welding and precision industrial equipment, serving technical industries such as aerospace and pharmaceutical.

Responsibilities

  • Create, update, and maintain 2D detail and assembly drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks.
  • Translate design concepts, redlines, and sketches into accurate, production-ready drawings and models.
  • Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and part/drawing numbering.
  • Apply dimensioning, tolerancing, and basic GD&T conventions.
  • Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and drawing/model revision control.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure drawings are clear, buildable, and inspection-ready.
  • Learn and progressively adopt internal design methodologies, drafting standards, and documentation processes.
  • Assist with additional engineering design and documentation needs as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on SolidWorks drafting/design experience.
  • Associate degree or technical certificate in Mechanical Drafting, Mechanical Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical drawing fundamentals, including tolerancing, dimensioning, and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a highly organized approach to documentation.
  • Comfortable working within a small, collaborative engineering team and taking direction from a senior designer.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
