Overview

The Outside Plant Technician works with heavy-duty power equipment and hand tools to construct and repair outside plant cable facilities, conduit, and pole lines. This role requires obtaining a Class A Driver's License and involves significant physical labor while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Construct and repair outside plant cable facilities, conduit, and pole lines using heavy-duty power equipment and hand tools.
• Load required tools and materials into the company vehicle and drive to work locations.
• Obtain a Class A Driver's License within six months of hire.
• Receive and follow verbal and written work orders from supervisors.
• Review and analyze complex schematic drawings to determine work methods and sequences.
• Perform various construction operations requiring heavy physical labor.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of assigned company vehicles and work locations.
• Communicate with other work groups to perform tests on work-in-progress.
• Perform preventative maintenance on tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Use hand tools to connect wires to terminals and attach/detach hardware.
• Use testing equipment to check for gas in manholes and clean debris.
• Meet specific quality, production, and safety standards.
• Perform time reporting tasks daily.
• May be required to climb non-stepped poles using climbers.

Requirements

• Must obtain a Class A Driver's License within six months of hire.
• Must pass a Federal DOT Medical Examination.
• Ability to perform heavy physical labor and lifting.
• Experience with heavy-duty power equipment and hand tools.
