Overview

We are seeking a skilled Equipment Engineering Technician to support equipment engineering and manufacturing operations within a highly technical optical manufacturing environment. This role involves troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, calibrating, upgrading, installing, and supporting various types of equipment while collaborating with multiple teams to ensure efficient and reliable operations.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, calibrate, and install manufacturing, laboratory, and production equipment.
  • Support equipment across optical fabrication, diamond point turning, optical coating, assembly, and test areas.
  • Diagnose equipment failures using schematics, engineering drawings, technical manuals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Modify, upgrade, and improve existing equipment to increase performance and production efficiency.
  • Support procurement, installation, setup, commissioning, and qualification of new capital equipment.
  • Assist with manufacturing equipment layouts, relocations, and installation projects.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance records, equipment inventories, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, mechanical, and automated systems using appropriate test and measurement instruments.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement and equipment enhancement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and manufacturing standards and procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate degree (AA/AS) or equivalent technical training with 6+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting equipment in a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
  • Hands-on experience with electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for automated and production equipment.
  • Proficiency using hand tools and test equipment, including multimeters, current probes, and electrical measurement instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, engineering drawings, manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
