Overview

The Piping Field Engineer at Bechtel is responsible for providing technical support for all piping activities on site, assisting superintendents and craft professionals in executing piping work. Bechtel has a long history of delivering successful projects across various markets, emphasizing quality and customer alignment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to the piping superintendents and crafts professionals.
• Implement the project ES&H program and quality control program.
• Help develop and implement Inspection and Test Plans for piping activities.
• Inspect field installations and complete associated documentation on a continuing basis.
• Complete final P&ID checks prior to turnovers.
• Responsible for quantity take-off, control, reporting, and forecasting for all piping quantities.
• Assist supervision and project controls in preparing detailed work plans and short-term schedules.
• Develop piping work packages in conjunction with supervision.
• Prepare field change documentation and as-built documentation as required.
• Interpret design drawings and interface with engineering to resolve design and constructability issues.
• Develop piping test packages and witness, verify, and accept them.
• Work with suppliers to ensure compliance with project drawings and specifications.
• Prepare material requisitions and coordinate and review vendor drawings.
• Work with Procurement's expediting team to ensure timely delivery of vendor materials.
• Verify accurate data from engineering and suppliers within TEAMWorks.
• Ensure proper storage of materials for environmental protection.
• Complete material receipt inspections as required.
• Assist with preparation of construction estimates.
• Coordinate efforts with other discipline field engineers to meet project requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years piping field engineering experience in a direct hire environment.
• Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes preferred.
• Experience in underground piping construction preferred.
• Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards required.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
• Right to work and remain in the United States.
