Overview

Kiewit Power Engineering is seeking a Mid-Level Mechanical Designer to join their innovative team, responsible for developing detailed designs and 3D models for power generating plants and related facilities. Responsibilities

  • Draft sketches, piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), plans, sections, and details for power plant systems.
  • Check design deliverables according to industry codes, contract requirements, and company standards.
  • Adhere to schedules and work assignments for successful project completion.
  • Coordinate with other drafters and designers on projects.
  • Train and advise interns or new graduates.
  • Work independently with little to no supervision.
  • Identify changes in project scope and produce necessary design changes.
  • Complete miscellaneous tasks to support project development.
  • Participate in project meetings as required.

Requirements

  • 3-12 years' experience in Design and/or Drafting disciplines with a background in Piping and/or mechanical systems design.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting/Design or engineering preferred; minimum Highschool or GED Diploma.
  • Experience utilizing 3D programs such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit, and similar.
  • Ability to conceptualize designs/models in a 2D/3D environment.
  • Experience creating P&IDs, plot plans, and drawings for construction packages.
  • Ability to work in a growing, adaptive, and multi-disciplined team environment.
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction.

Additional Information

  • Position can be based in Lenexa, KS; Houston, TX; Raleigh, NC; or Phoenix/Tempe, AZ.
  • For roles in Chattanooga, TN; Detroit, MI; or Richmond, VA, the position will start remotely and transition to a hybrid/in-office arrangement.
