Overview

Weld County is seeking a Vehicle Upfit Technician to install specialized equipment in Sheriffs Office and Public Works vehicles. The role involves vehicle upfit, maintenance, and ensuring a clean and safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation of specialized equipment.
  • Test and troubleshoot specialized equipment.
  • Disassemble the interior and exterior of new vehicles to prepare for installation.
  • Complete installations for a diverse range of vehicle makes and models.
  • Work out minor damage in body panels and weld torn metal.
  • Remove and install bolt-on components and verify dimensional accuracy.
  • Remove and recover specialized equipment from end of life vehicles.
  • Maintain and track materials for jobs.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly tools and work area.
  • Complete all required paperwork and documentation.
  • Follow policies, procedures, and the Weld County Code of Conduct.
  • Adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • 2 years of upfit experience preferred.
  • Good understanding of 12 VDC electrical systems.
  • General knowledge and ability to read electrical diagrams.
  • Experience with vehicle audio systems, mobile video systems, and vehicle security systems is a plus.
  • Ability to operate and maneuver trailers.
  • Understanding of small powered and manual hand tools.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and reports.
  • Ability to write routine reports and simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to learn and follow safety precautions.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations.
  • Ability to solve problems involving several variables.
  • Ability to function independently and in a team environment.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
