Job Description

Overview

The TIG Welder / Production Welder requires knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principal methods involved in the production of precision parts is also required.

Responsibilities

  • Lay out, fit, and set-up of equipment.
  • Mainly TIG weld with some MIG welding according to blueprints and job orders.
  • Select equipment and plan layout, assembly, and welding.
  • Layout, positioning, and alignment of components for welding.
  • Movement and positioning of workpieces using overhead crane.
  • May clean or degrease parts using brush, grinder, or chemical bath.
  • Troubleshoots welding procedures by visually examining welds for defects.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of factory/manufacturing experience with similar equipment at high volumes preferred.
  • TIG & MIG Welding Certifications are a plus.
  • Time Management skills.
  • Protective Equipment Required: safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, respirator or face-shield when necessary.

Additional Information

  • This is a full-time position.
  • Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 1st shift - 7:00am to 3:30pm, or 2nd shift – 3:30pm to midnight, 40 hours per week.
  • Overtime may be required based on business needs.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
