Overview

The Welder position in Winfield, West Virginia focuses on safety and well-being in heavy industries. The role involves welding steel components and ensuring a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Weld steel components with specified welding equipment.
  • Set up and lay out work using fixtures and positioning devices.
  • Operate forklifts, hoists, hand power tools, slings, grinders, cutting torch, and other related tools.
  • Utilize in-process measuring techniques including weld gauges.
  • Inspect and correct welds to meet product specifications.
  • Read and follow job order specifications, engineering drawings, and weld symbols.
  • Cross-train and perform other job tasks as needed.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Perform flame cutting or arc welding operations when required.

Requirements

  • 2 years' experience preferred.
  • Welding certification(s) preferred.
  • Understanding of basic metallurgy, tolerance, tools, and mathematics.
  • Familiarity with a variety of welder concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to understand welding symbols and diagrams, and read blueprints.
  • Familiarity with welding equipment such as torches, filler rods, and compressed gases.
  • Ability to follow written or verbal instructions.
  • Computer skills for time tracking.

  • The employee is regularly required to stand, use hands, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, and talk or hear.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to fumes and may require wearing a respirator.
  • Occasional work at heights using correct PPE.
  • Noise level typical of a manufacturing facility.
