Job Description

Overview

The Welder Helper position at MEC Construction LLC involves assisting welders in securing components for accurate welds and preparing materials for welding. This role also requires participation in the labor force of the project when not directly supporting welding tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist welder(s) in securing components together to ensure accurate welds.
  • Prepare material for welding by cutting or grinding using various tools.
  • Set material in stands, racks, hoists, etc. for welding.
  • Perform tasks assigned by Welder or Foreman.

Requirements

  • Follows oral and written directions.
  • Assists in cleaning the worksite after workday is over.
  • Learns proper use & maintenance of various tools.
  • Follows all MEC's policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor as needed.
  • One year of industrial/construction/general labor experience.
  • OSHA 10 Certification preferred.

  • Frequent walking and climbing (stairs, ladders, terrain).
  • Frequent lifting (up to and including 50 pounds).
  • Frequent bending, twisting and standing.
  • Exposure to working outdoors in all-weather conditions.
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments as required.
  • Travel is required.
  • Work Location: On the road.
