Fire sprinkler foremen are responsible for the complete installation of fire sprinkler systems in various types of buildings and manage installation projects while overseeing technicians and assistants.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret installation requirement details from project drawings.
  • Delegate tasks to fitters, mechanics, and assistants to meet project deadlines.
  • Install and test fire suppression equipment in construction projects.
  • Follow design plans and communicate necessary design changes.
  • Manage materials delivered to the site and perform minor fabrication.
  • Update daily installation progress notes on job contract drawings.
  • Notify the manager of any necessary changes to the order.
  • Instruct and train helpers, apprentices, or other personnel.
  • Complete and maintain all paperwork accurately.
  • Maintain vehicle and tools according to company policy.
  • Use hand tools and various power tools.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of pipefitting, plumbing regulations, and fire protection codes.
  • Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of fire safety.
  • Knowledge of codes and regulations related to the work.
  • Ability to review official documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ability to act in a lead capacity.
  • Ability to recognize and report deviations through inspection programs.
  • Ability to interpret, apply, and explain applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to use or repair small/light equipment and machinery.
