Overview

Manufacturing Operations is seeking an Experienced Metals Mechanic for the El Segundo, California Refinery. The role involves performing maintenance, repair, and construction work in both field and shop settings, requiring skills in welding, pipefitting, and boilermaking.

Responsibilities

  • Performs troubleshooting, preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Lays out, measures and fabricates piping and structural equipment in the field and shop environments.
  • Performs all Metals Craft requirements to safely work on plant equipment.
  • Utilizes hand, power and precision tools safely and effectively.
  • Works in Process Plant, Shop and Off-Plot environments.
  • Works independently or as part of a team and plans and organizes own work.
  • Responsible for the safe and economic use of resources.
  • Looks for and acts on opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Applies good problem-solving skills to develop recommendations and solutions.
  • Builds positive working relationships with operators and other crafts.
  • Communicates across all levels of the organization including Management, Technical, Operations, and Maintenance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in either Pipe welding, Boiler making, or Pipe fitting.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in the refining or petrochemical industries.
  • Ability to use computers to enter work histories and perform corporate compliance activities.
  • Willing to work overtime, holidays, nights, and weekends.
  • Willing to be on call and meet call-out standards.
  • Willing to work outside in inclement weather.
  • Willing to work in compact and confined spaces.
  • Willing to climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of safe work practices and a commitment to Incident and Injury Free Operations.
