Overview

The Structural Mechanic 4 position at Gulfstream in Van Nuys involves performing structural assembly operations in a team-oriented environment. This role requires repair station experience and is scheduled for the weekend day shift, emphasizing the importance of quality and compliance with specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assembly and fitting of detail parts and structures, ensuring they meet requirements.
  • Use schematics, engineering drawings, and technical instructions for layout, fabrication, and installation.
  • Rivet structural assemblies and parts using required tools.
  • Read work orders and blueprints to determine operations and follow standard procedures.
  • Check all work to ensure a defect-free assembly prior to final inspection.
  • Mentor and assist team members in interpreting blueprints and resolving production issues.
  • Maintain logs and records related to work performed.
  • Align and assemble parts using jigs and fasteners.
  • Make repairs per Discrepant Material Tags and perform necessary rework.
  • Plan and organize workloads to meet goal hours and schedule expectations.
  • Maintain a neat work area and comply with safety regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 6 years related structural assembly experience.
  • Experience with Solumnia and Smarteam preferred.
  • Q-stamp preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of computers and related software.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Skilled in close tolerance work and use of special tools and equipment.
  • Ability to solve dimensional problems using mathematical formulas.
  • Thorough knowledge in the use of multiple measuring devices.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work in restricted areas.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
