Overview

The Mechanical Design Engineer for the Structural & Cab Team serves as a technical leader, providing expertise on mechanical and structural design assignments while leading the translation of engineering direction into executable plans. This role is crucial for future engineering leadership needs.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for new and existing products.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for complex mechanical and structural systems.
  • Develop mechanical and structural connection designs and guide design decisions.
  • Evaluate tolerance stack-up for designs and recommend appropriate fits and tolerances.
  • Prepare and review component and system drawings and technical documentation.
  • Provide technical direction for component and system drafting.
  • Lead project teams through complex technical challenges and develop execution strategies.
  • Mentor and develop engineers and technical team members.
  • Perform and review engineering calculations to support design decisions.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders across machine system development groups.
  • Lead departmental or project meetings and communicate project status and risks.
  • Develop and present technical specifications, reports, and recommendations.
  • Anticipate business, technical, regulatory, or industry challenges and recommend improvements.
  • Provide thought leadership regarding structures, weldments, and design practices.
  • Represent engineering expertise in discussions with external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Accredited engineering degree in mechanical, structural, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive engineering experience in relevant fields.
  • Strong CAD skills in 3-D and 2-D drawing software, including Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
  • Advanced mechanical design knowledge and experience in producing parts.
  • Extensive experience in a structured release environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
