Job Description

Overview

The Civil Structural Engineer position at Leidos involves supporting FAA facility modernization projects in Des Plaines, IL, with 30% travel. The role focuses on planning, designing, and delivering civil/structural upgrades while collaborating with engineering teams and FAA stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop project scopes, plans, schedules, and cost estimates
  • Create AutoCAD drawings, specifications, and technical documents
  • Conduct on-site surveys and produce accurate, to-scale designs
  • Support structural evaluations and facility upgrades including foundations, roofing, shelters, mechanical installations, parking, and security systems
  • Participate in construction and design reviews, risk management, and stakeholder meetings
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design efforts and track project progress

Requirements

  • ABET-accredited degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 3+ years of structural design experience (steel, concrete, foundations)
  • Knowledge of building structural codes
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation; strong MS Office skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities
  • Ability to obtain FAA Public Trust (US Citizen or Green Card holder with 3 years residency)
  • Pre-employment drug test required
