Job Description

Overview

The Qualified Welder position involves performing hand welding on complex assemblies and structures using welding equipment to fabricate or repair products. This safety-sensitive role requires compliance with safety regulations and the company's drug and alcohol policy.

Responsibilities

  • Receives instructions, prints, and work orders for the job.
  • Plans details of working procedure, and tool and material requirements.
  • Fabrics equipment by cutting, burning, and welding various metals.
  • Repairs equipment using welding techniques and appropriate welding equipment.
  • Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded.
  • Sets up, assembles, and tacks weld parts.
  • Repairs worn or defective surfaces.
  • Uses burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and cut material to size and shape.
  • Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.
  • May be assigned to dismantle or cut up obsolete equipment, setting aside parts for scrap dealers.
  • Completes other tasks as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Must sign acknowledgment of reading and understanding the Company’s safety policy and adhere to all Company safety rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year of welding experience.
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification as required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or completion of Company training program to the satisfaction of the Supervisor.
  • Strong attention to detail, precision, and control.
  • Emotional Intelligence, collaboration and communication skills.
  • Quick thinker and ability to prioritize safety first.
  • Organization and project management methodology.
