Overview

The Technician, Facility Services, HVAC-Refrigeration position involves installing and maintaining HVAC and refrigeration systems, ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations. The role includes diagnosing technical issues, implementing preventive maintenance, and mentoring less-experienced technicians while adhering to safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Installs HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork and control panels.
  • Configures and calibrates systems to meet operational specifications.
  • Interprets layout plans and schematics for accurate system setup.
  • Diagnoses and resolves mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues.
  • Implements preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment life.
  • Maintains and repairs refrigeration units and HVAC systems.
  • Conducts inspections and repairs in compliance with regulations.
  • Leads field teams and mentors less-experienced technicians.
  • Communicates effectively with customers regarding technical issues.
  • Manages escalated service issues and coordinates with external providers.
  • Tracks refrigerant levels and parts inventory.
  • Submits warranty claims, expense reports, and work orders.
  • Maintains company vehicles in accordance with policies.
  • Participates in an on-call rotation for business critical needs.
  • Develops and implements processes to meet business needs.

Requirements

  • Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field.
  • 4 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R.
  • Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal EPA certification for refrigerant handling.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle report.
  • Commercial driving record with no DUI, DWI, or serious traffic violations in the last 5 years.
