Overview

Join a quality-first manufacturing team as an Aluminum TIG Welder-Fitter, where attention to detail and continuous improvement are key. This role involves setting up and operating TIG equipment for aluminum assemblies, ensuring precision and compliance with quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate GTAW (TIG) equipment for aluminum assemblies.
  • Follow drawings, fixtures, and WPS to produce accurate results.
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and work instructions.
  • Fit, align, clamp, and tack parts to control distortion prior to final weld.
  • Use calipers, squares, tapes, gauges, and fixtures to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Prep and post-process aluminum to support weld quality.
  • Maintain standards for appearance, penetration, distortion control, and dimensional accuracy.
  • Inspect finished weldments to confirm compliance with quality requirements.
  • Complete production and quality documentation.
  • Care for equipment and report any tooling issues.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and housekeeping requirements.

Requirements

  • Experience in aluminum TIG is beneficial; training available for the right person.
  • AWS D1.2 experience preferred.
  • Ability to pass company weld tests.
  • Aluminum fabrication experience preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with fixtures, jigs, precision assemblies, and blueprint/symbol reading is a plus.
  • Aluminum TIG experience with thin and thick material.
  • Heat control, fit-up, and distortion management know-how.
  • Ability to read fabrication drawings and weld symbols.
  • Comfort with calipers, squares, and other inspection tools.
  • Strong attention to detail; team-oriented, yet self-directed.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new techniques.

Additional Information

  • First Shift Hours: 6a–230p Mon–Fri
  • Second Shift Hours: 230p–1a Mon–Thurs
  • Work Location: In person
  • Fabrication floor with welding equipment, moving machinery, fumes/airborne particles, and moderate noise. PPE is required at all times.
  • Stand, bend, kneel, and work in multiple welding positions during the shift.
  • Frequent hand/arm use for welding, fitting, grinding, and material handling.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs frequently; up to 75 lbs occasionally.
  • Close visual acuity for precision welds and inspections.
