Overview

The Lead Welder (3rd) position requires advanced welding operations in various positions, focusing on structural and cosmetic repairs across multiple materials. The role involves leading a team, organizing workflow, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards while supporting various maintenance needs at Universal Orlando.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and delegates work tasks among qualified team members.
  • Implements planning and scheduling for the assigned shift.
  • Ensures proper completion of Maximo work orders.
  • Communicates performance expectations and provides feedback.
  • Reinforces company safety guidelines and reports non-compliance.
  • Monitors employees’ productivity and work habits.
  • Leads startup and stoppage, schedules breaks.
  • Monitors care, condition, use, and storage of tools and equipment.
  • Maintains material inventories.
  • Ensures compliance with wardrobe/grooming standards and other UO policies.
  • Completes documentation, traveler packages, and weld logs.
  • Coordinates with other departments as needed.
  • Provides two-way communication between work team and management.
  • Performs job duties as described in non-lead job description.
  • Assists with training new and current employees.
  • Participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Associate of Science degree (AS) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred.
  • 5+ years of required welding experience and company certification equal to 6G.
  • Six months to one year experience providing work direction preferred.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
