Overview

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and updating drawings, developing project scopes, and ensuring safety procedures are followed. The role requires technical expertise in mechanical systems and involves both project management and maintenance responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update drawings.
  • Develop scope, plan, quote, and implement capital and maintenance projects.
  • Meet project schedules and budgets.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Provide on-call responsibility for the mechanical department.
  • Act as a technical resource.
  • Develop maintenance procedures and quality specifications.
  • Assist with maintenance troubleshooting.
  • Maintain technical documents.
  • Assist with technical growth and training of mill personnel.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed by all.
  • Engineer safety systems and guarding.
  • Evaluate and modify PM schedules to optimize uptime.
  • Assist with root cause failure analysis and develop corrective solutions.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering, preferably Mechanical.
  • Industrial experience, preferably in pulp and paper.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems including pumps, gearboxes, lubrication, vibration, piping, welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, and thermal systems.
  • Computer skills including AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
