Overview

The Structural Welder is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of welding machines to join various types of metal parts for structures. Delta Constructors specializes in construction, maintenance, and project management services across North America, particularly in the oil and gas, mining, renewable energy, and infrastructure sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes blueprints and structural drawings
  • Adheres to applicable welding methods in completion of structural fabrications
  • Utilizes manual and mechanical processes to weld in various positions
  • Calibrates welding tools and equipment according to welding procedure specifications
  • Cleans and prepares metal work pieces using scrapers, chemical solutions, and grinders
  • Cuts, repairs, and assembles building components to form complete structures
  • Inspects and evaluates welds to ensure they are free of defect and adhere to specifications
  • Conducts post-welding activities such as grinding, cleaning, and polishing of work pieces
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years’ experience in oil & gas or energy industries preferred
  • Current and valid driver’s license
  • Ability to consistently pass and perform acceptable NDE D1.1 AWS field weld inspection
  • Knowledge of industrial structural welding methods and techniques
  • Knowledge of proper use of equipment such as welder torch, electrode holder, drill press, gas welding, and welding electrode
  • Knowledge of Hazardous Materials and Safety Regulations
  • Knowledge and experience in oilfield operations preferred
  • Ability to conduct appropriate tests to identify and correct faults in framework of structure
  • Ability to follow instructions and communicate clearly

  • Work Location: Carlsbad, NM
  • The work environment is usually loud and may require use of ear plugs on occasion.
  • The incumbent is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, and equipment.
  • The employee will be required to work and stay on site during the work rotation.
