Overview

True Anomaly is seeking a motivated and hands-on Mechanisms Engineer II to join their Mechanisms team, contributing to the design, development, build, and test of precision motor-driven actuation systems for orbital platforms, impacting spaceflight hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop precision mechanical components and assemblies for spacecraft actuation systems using CAD tools.
  • Perform mechanical analysis including stress, fatigue, tolerance stack-up, and kinematic analysis to validate designs.
  • Support the selection and integration of motors, bearings, gears, and other drivetrain components into mechanism assemblies.
  • Generate engineering drawings, BOMs, and fabrication documentation to support manufacturing and procurement.
  • Support mechanism assembly, integration, and test activities including functional testing, environmental test campaigns, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with motor control, avionics, and systems engineering teams to ensure mechanism designs meet system-level interface and performance requirements.
  • Assist with trade studies and design reviews, contributing analysis and design documentation.
  • Develop and maintain design documentation including specifications, test plans, and analysis reports.
  • Support continuous improvement of mechanisms engineering processes and practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • 2-4 years of professional experience in mechanical design and development.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Experience generating engineering drawings and fabrication documentation.
  • Familiarity with mechanical analysis methods including stress, tolerance stack-up, and kinematic analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to work hands-on with hardware through build, integration, and test activities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Work Location—Successful candidates will be located near Centennial, CO or Long Beach, CA.
  • While we observe a hybrid work environment, some work must be done on site.
