Overview

Novel Iron Works is an AISC-certified structural steel fabricator and erector serving commercial, institutional, and other construction projects throughout New England. They are looking for dependable individuals interested in learning structural steel fabrication, whether experienced or new to the trade.

Responsibilities

  • Assist fitters, welders, machine operators, and material handlers.
  • Grind, clean, deburr, and prepare structural steel components.
  • Move, stage, and organize material throughout the shop.
  • Learn to identify structural steel shapes, plates, piece marks, and detail material.
  • Learn to accurately use a tape measure and common fabrication tools.
  • Safely use grinders, hand tools, and power tools after proper training.
  • Learn proper overhead crane, rigging, and material-handling practices.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, staging, and organizing structural steel.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Participate in training and develop additional fabrication skills.

Requirements

  • Experience requirements vary by position.
  • Experienced structural steel fitters and welders are encouraged to apply.
  • Dependable candidates with mechanical aptitude are also welcome.
  • Applicants should be able to work safely around heavy structural steel and fabrication machinery.
