Overview

The Plant Maintenance Technician at Southwest Airlines is responsible for maintaining hangars, offices, and maintenance facilities to support Technical Operations Teams. This role involves hands-on work to repair critical infrastructure and ensure facilities are safe and reliable, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the airline.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, dismantle, alter, repair, and erect buildings, hangars, and office equipment.
  • Work with field equipment and perform duties generally performed by plumbers, painters, electricians, carpenters, machinists, welders, and HVAC technicians.
  • Meet physical ability requirements as listed.
  • Perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years of experience in commercial plumbing, electrical, air conditioning and heating, or welding.
  • Familiarity with basic city codes.
  • Ability to read and comprehend architectural blueprints and commercial wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to follow instructions and comply with building codes.
  • Ability to write accurate summaries of work accomplished.
  • Awareness of hazardous situations and ability to handle emergencies.
  • Ability to work well with others as part of a team.
  • Ability to perform job functions in limited space and hazardous areas.
  • Must possess basic tools required for routine facilities maintenance.
