Welding Shop in Austin, TX

Overview

We are seeking dependable, hardworking team members to assist with rebar fabrication, yard operations, and material handling. This hands-on position involves supporting equipment operators, moving and organizing steel reinforcing bar, preparing customer orders, and maintaining a safe, orderly work area.

Responsibilities

• Assist with measuring, cutting, bending, sorting, and bundling rebar according to work orders and supervisor instructions.
• Support fabrication equipment operators and operate equipment only after receiving proper training and authorization.
• Load, unload, move, and stage rebar and other materials using approved methods and equipment.
• Pull orders, count materials, and verify sizes, quantities, and identification tags.
• Secure and label bundles for storage, shipment, or customer pickup.
• Help receive deliveries and organize materials in designated yard locations.
• Inspect materials for visible damage and report shortages or discrepancies.
• Keep the yard, fabrication area, and loading zones clean and free of scrap and trip hazards.
• Inspect assigned tools and report equipment problems or unsafe conditions promptly.
• Follow required safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Assist with other fabrication, warehouse, and yard duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Previous experience in construction, steel fabrication, warehouse operations, or yard work preferred; willing to train a dependable candidate.
• Ability to read a tape measure, perform basic math, and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work safely around heavy materials, moving equipment, and sharp steel edges.
• Ability to perform essential duties, including lifting and carrying materials, bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Reliable attendance, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work as part of a team and maintain a steady, safe pace.
• Forklift or overhead crane experience is a plus; training and authorization are required before operation.

Additional Information

• Work takes place in an outdoor storage yard and fabrication shop with exposure to noise, dust, weather, and heavy equipment.
• Required protective equipment may include work gloves, safety glasses, safety footwear, hearing protection, and a hard hat.
