Overview

Column Technical Services is seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer to join a growing manufacturing organization in Alsip, IL. This role involves designing custom pump systems, fabricated equipment, structural steel skids, and modular piping assemblies from concept through fabrication.

Responsibilities

  • Design custom pump systems and fabricated equipment.
  • Create structural steel skids and modular piping assemblies.
  • Develop 3D models and assembly creations using SolidWorks.
  • Produce detailed fabrication drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Design industrial piping systems including pipe routing and layouts.
  • Detail structural steel bedplates, skids, frames, and welded structures.
  • Collaborate effectively with fabrication, machining, production, engineering, and project teams.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of mechanical design and drafting experience in industrial manufacturing or related environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks, including 3D modeling and assembly creation.
  • Experience designing industrial piping systems and modular piping assemblies.
  • Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and welding processes.
  • Ability to create fabrication-ready drawings with dimensions and specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, piping drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or comparable 2D CAD software.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical school training or related technical education preferred.
