Overview

Sierra Lobo offers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies, with a focus on Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems. The Mechanic Welder position is located at NASA’s White Sands Test Facility in the Technical Services Department.

Responsibilities

  • Apply technical knowledge to solve complex problems beyond manufacturer’s manuals.
  • Possess advanced knowledge of fabrication equipment such as benders, shears, and grinders.
  • Have advanced knowledge of various alloys and prepare materials for welding.
  • Demonstrate technical skills in welding and fabrication including GTAW, SMAW, and GMAW.
  • Prepare materials, select proper procedures, and operate welding equipment for various tasks.
  • Work collaboratively to provide quality and timely welding support services.
  • Maintain a neat, orderly, and safe work area.

Requirements

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of applicable welding experience or training.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Pass a physical examination as per WSTF requirements.
  • Meet certification requirements as specified in the White Sands Training Database (WSTD).
