Job Description

Overview

The Welder Supervisor position requires significant experience in supervising repair and maintenance efforts onboard U.S. Navy ships, specifically in welding tasks. Candidates must have a background in heavy industrial environments and meet specific qualification standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise structural welding of deck structures, support braces, foundations, or hangers using processes such as SMAW or GTAW.
  • Prepare finished welds by hand grinding or burring to meet visual acceptance standards.
  • Set up and operate stud welding equipment as needed.
  • Install hot work protection and/or build weld containments for fire prevention.
  • Perform firewatch duties during welding operations.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience supervising welding tasks.
  • 2 years of experience welding in a heavy industrial work environment.
  • Qualified per Technical Publication S9074-AQ-GIB-010/248.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must possess a security clearance.
