The Heat Treat Assistant position is an entry-level role supporting Post Weld Heat Treatment and related thermal processes, providing hands-on training and opportunities for career advancement.
Responsibilities
- Assist in setup, operation, and breakdown of heat-treating equipment.
- Clean and prepare components for heat treatment following safety and client specifications.
- Lay out and secure insulation, heating elements, and monitoring hardware on piping, vessels, or weld zones.
- Monitor temperature controllers and data recorders to support certified technicians during operations.
- Cut and apply thermocouples accurately and securely under technician supervision.
- Retrieve and organize documentation, charts, and materials to support job setup and reporting.
- Follow strict safety procedures related to high-temperature equipment, electrical hazards, and confined or elevated work areas.
- Maintain tools, consumables, and equipment in safe, working conditions.
- Travel to client sites as required, sometimes for extended assignments or turnaround schedules.
- Follow all safety rules, client site protocols, and TEAM's Life Critical Expectations.
- Perform general labor duties related to rigging, lifting, and access equipment setup.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening background check.
- Must be able to obtain TWIC, DISA, and/or other site access credentials.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools and measurement devices.
- Willingness to travel and work in various environments typically found in Oil and Gas, Nuclear, Power, Municipality, Aerospace, and other settings.
- Willingness and ability to work extended shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules as required.
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various environmental conditions.
- Strong work ethic with a safety-first mindset.
- Prior experience assisting with PWHT, induction heating, or thermal processing is preferred.
- Basic electrical knowledge or experience working around power distribution equipment is preferred.
- Familiarity with welding, inspection, or other industrial trades is preferred.
- Current TWIC, OSHA 10/30, or other industry-standard safety certifications are preferred.
