Overview

The Heat Treat Assistant position is an entry-level role supporting Post Weld Heat Treatment and related thermal processes, providing hands-on training and opportunities for career advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in setup, operation, and breakdown of heat-treating equipment.
  • Clean and prepare components for heat treatment following safety and client specifications.
  • Lay out and secure insulation, heating elements, and monitoring hardware on piping, vessels, or weld zones.
  • Monitor temperature controllers and data recorders to support certified technicians during operations.
  • Cut and apply thermocouples accurately and securely under technician supervision.
  • Retrieve and organize documentation, charts, and materials to support job setup and reporting.
  • Follow strict safety procedures related to high-temperature equipment, electrical hazards, and confined or elevated work areas.
  • Maintain tools, consumables, and equipment in safe, working conditions.
  • Travel to client sites as required, sometimes for extended assignments or turnaround schedules.
  • Follow all safety rules, client site protocols, and TEAM's Life Critical Expectations.
  • Perform general labor duties related to rigging, lifting, and access equipment setup.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening background check.
  • Must be able to obtain TWIC, DISA, and/or other site access credentials.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools and measurement devices.
  • Willingness to travel and work in various environments typically found in Oil and Gas, Nuclear, Power, Municipality, Aerospace, and other settings.
  • Willingness and ability to work extended shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules as required.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various environmental conditions.
  • Strong work ethic with a safety-first mindset.
  • Prior experience assisting with PWHT, induction heating, or thermal processing is preferred.
  • Basic electrical knowledge or experience working around power distribution equipment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with welding, inspection, or other industrial trades is preferred.
  • Current TWIC, OSHA 10/30, or other industry-standard safety certifications are preferred.
