Overview

Johnson Matthey is a global leader in sustainable technologies with over 200 years of success, seeking an Electro Mechanic to contribute to their growth and maintain their reputation in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Receives instruction covering the schedule and emergency repair, installation, and inspection of work.
  • Inspects plant equipment for defects and determines the best way to make repairs.
  • Plans details of working procedures for logical job approaches.
  • Dismantles, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles, lubricates, and adjusts equipment.
  • Operates simple machine tools and erects scaffolds as necessary.
  • Interprets drawings and sketches to plan working procedures and select materials.
  • Operates mechanical lifting devices and lays out work.
  • Prepares surfaces for welding and performs brazing and welding.
  • Cleans, grinds, and flame anneals parts as required.
  • Sets up and operates pipe bending, threading, and cut-off equipment.
  • Fabricates and installs ductwork for heating and ventilating.
  • Makes calculations for estimating material requirements.
  • Operates and maintains mechanical equipment such as air compressors and HVAC units.
  • Prepares surfaces for painting and applies paints and coatings.
  • Receives wiring diagrams and analyzes drawings for electrical work.
  • Locates sources of trouble for electrical equipment and performs repairs.
  • Installs conduit, fittings, switches, and connects electrical equipment.
  • Adjusts new equipment for proper operating characteristics.
  • Exercises all safety precautions and works in exposure areas.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of electrical principles and wiring specifications.
  • Experience with programmable controllers and PLC logic relays.
  • Trained in proper management practices for hazardous wastes.
