Job Description

Overview

The City of Dallas is seeking a Maintenance Worker III to perform skilled labor in the maintenance and repair of public facilities, streets, and other grounds. Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance work including setting forms, mixing and pouring concrete, and laying asphalt.
  • Lay pipes for storm or sanitary sewers and water mains.
  • Load and unload tools and materials onto trucks for repairs.
  • Flag traffic and set out safety devices to ensure crew and public safety.
  • Dig ditches and trenches, and clean up debris and vegetation.
  • Assist in cleaning drainage ditches and sewer lines using power equipment.
  • Drive dump trucks and other equipment to transport tools and materials.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and track inventory.
  • Maintain facility grounds by cutting grass, removing litter, and landscaping.
  • Conduct Facility Safety Inspections and report problems to the supervisor.
  • Perform other assigned work as needed.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in maintenance and labor work.
  • Knowledge of construction repair equipment and tools.
  • Ability to operate various power tools and equipment.
  • Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical labor.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Texas Driver's License with a good driving history.
  • Commercial Driver’s License Class B.
  • Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) License may be required for certain departments.
  • Texas Vehicle Inspectors License may be required for certain departments.
