Overview
As an Aviation Manual Machinist at StandardAero, you will be responsible for the setup, calibration, maintenance, and operation of machining equipment in a clean and safe work environment. Responsibilities
- Read and interpret specification manuals, blueprints, templates, and layouts to determine machining operations.
- Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces.
- Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and modify to achieve expected performance.
- Adjust and set up machine tools for use by machining tool operators.
- Participate in continuous improvement of cell processes.
- Cross-train in other complementary skills to support production requirements.
- Move between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements.
- Participate in the cross-training of other technicians as needed.
- Observe all applicable safety requirements and report any unsafe practices or conditions.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- 3-5 years of Manual Mill and Lathe machinist experience is required.
- High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy, and precision.
- Thorough knowledge of manufacturing, tool design, and fabrication methods.
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints.
- Strong mathematical aptitude.
- Working knowledge of related company instructions and processes.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted for approximately 25% of the average workday.
- Regularly required to stand for prolonged periods.
- Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program or equivalent.
- Attainment of trade certification.
- Ability to work day shift, evening shift, or weekend shift as required.
- Must be authorized to work in the US.

Additional Information
- Evening and weekend shifts are required.
- Many shop positions offer a 4-day workweek with 10-hour shifts, typically Monday through Thursday.
