Overview

As an Aviation Manual Machinist at StandardAero, you will be responsible for the setup, calibration, maintenance, and operation of machining equipment in a clean and safe work environment. Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret specification manuals, blueprints, templates, and layouts to determine machining operations.
  • Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces.
  • Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and modify to achieve expected performance.
  • Adjust and set up machine tools for use by machining tool operators.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of cell processes.
  • Cross-train in other complementary skills to support production requirements.
  • Move between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements.
  • Participate in the cross-training of other technicians as needed.
  • Observe all applicable safety requirements and report any unsafe practices or conditions.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 3-5 years of Manual Mill and Lathe machinist experience is required.
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy, and precision.
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing, tool design, and fabrication methods.
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Working knowledge of related company instructions and processes.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted for approximately 25% of the average workday.
  • Regularly required to stand for prolonged periods.
  • Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program or equivalent.
  • Attainment of trade certification.
  • Ability to work day shift, evening shift, or weekend shift as required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.

Additional Information

  • Evening and weekend shifts are required.
  • Many shop positions offer a 4-day workweek with 10-hour shifts, typically Monday through Thursday.
