Overview
The Maintenance Technician position in Houston, TX, involves maintaining high on-line availability of custom automated equipment used in the production of catalytic converters. The role requires hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, as well as collaboration with various departments to ensure efficient operations.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on mechanical troubleshooting and service of automated production equipment.
- Fit bearings, align gears and shafts, and perform mechanical overhauls and adjustments.
- Provide electrical troubleshooting and service of AC & DC motors and electrical panels.
- Provide electronic troubleshooting and service of actuators and sensors.
- Conduct facility repairs including plumbing, carpentry, and light electrical repairs.
- Perform equipment repairs on welding machines, forklifts, shears, and plate rollers.
- Review assigned maintenance work orders and complete maintenance records timely.
- Guide and work with service contractors during maintenance and inspection work.
- Manage spare parts and preventive maintenance programs.
- Participate in new manufacturing equipment projects from concept to commissioning.
- Observe and suggest operational/design changes based on performance and quality control.
- Collaborate with the engineering group to resolve issues.
- Train maintenance technicians as staff size grows.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Formal training in mechanical systems, electronic systems, and controls.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment is required.
- Demonstrated ability in troubleshooting and maintaining automated production equipment.
- Ability to follow mechanical drawings and operations manuals.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment.
- Ability to follow electrical schematics and use troubleshooting tools.
