Overview

Hermeus is a venture-backed defense aviation company focused on rapid iterative prototyping to build the fastest aircraft. They are seeking a Sheet Metal Shop Technician to support precision fabrication of complex flight hardware, emphasizing craftsmanship and collaboration with engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain sheet metal fabrication equipment including laser cutters and press brakes.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to ensure fabricated components meet requirements.
• Perform precision measurement and inspection using various gauges to verify conformance.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and design engineers to refine fabrication processes.
• Execute basic assembly operations, including drilling and riveting of metallic structures.
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on shop equipment.
• Support and train operators on safe and efficient machine setup and operation.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute feedback to improve work instructions and tooling designs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate required; technical training or trade certification preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in precision manufacturing or aerospace fabrication.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Proficient in safe operation of sheet metal forming and cutting equipment.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of work.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
• Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed.
