Overview

Gowan/Garrett, Inc. is one of Houston’s largest providers of construction and mechanical services, seeking Laborers to perform physical tasks at construction sites. The role involves operating tools, preparing work areas, and assisting craft workers to ensure successful project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Control traffic passing near work zones.
  • Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
  • Travel to job sites primarily in Bryan/College Station and the Greater Houston area.
  • Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools according to project plans.
  • Retrieve tools, materials, and equipment for project needs while maintaining tool tracking.
  • Keep job site and/or warehouse tidy, including sweeping and promoting health and safety.
  • Assist with warehouse upkeep, inventory material control, and fleet management.
  • Load/unload trucks and trailers.
  • Perform physical labor such as hand digging and duct sealing.
  • Ensure maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment when necessary.
  • Perform additional assignments as required by the project manager.
  • Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, OSHA, and safety programs.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to perform job tasks involving physical labor at construction sites.
  • Must be comfortable using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and understand plans and instructions.
  • Working knowledge of the construction industry, OSHA, and relevant safety practices.
