Overview
The Cable Assembler is responsible for assembling cables and modules according to precise design specifications at Communications & Power Industries, a global manufacturer of electronic components and subsystems.
Responsibilities
- Fabricates and tests cable assemblies following blueprints specifications.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, work orders, and specifications.
- Measures and cuts cable to required length.
- Selects and installs dies, jigs, shims, or other accessories in swaging machine.
- Assembles fittings onto cable in specified location.
- Positions fitting cable between dies of swaging machine and activates machine.
- Verifies dimensions of cable assembly and position of fittings.
- Tests holding capacity of cable assembly using proof loading machines.
- Repairs and reworks cable assemblies as required.
- May form loops or splices in cables.
- May apply lubricants or protective coatings to cable assemblies.
- May operate crimping machine.
- May mark identifying information on cable assemblies.
- May fabricate cable templates.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Maintains shop disciplines including housekeeping and 5S.
- Works from assembly drawings, 3-D models, and other documentation.
- Performs basic assembly operations to exacting tolerances.
- Uses precise measuring instruments to check dimensional tolerance.
- Detects defective parts or operating difficulties and reports to supervision.
- Completes necessary documentation to ensure quality and production requirements.
- Participates in team meetings to communicate and resolve issues.
- Assists engineering with R&D.
