Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate expertise in Carbon Arc Gouging and Oxy/Fuel Torch operations for metal cutting and preparation.
  • Interpret weld symbols and read technical prints and blueprints accurately.
  • Operate rigging equipment and overhead cranes safely and efficiently.
  • Exhibit skills in fitting and layout operations for component preparation.
  • Utilize a variety of welding electrodes and adapt techniques to materials and specifications.
  • Perform carbon arc gouging with precision for repair and fabrication work.
  • Achieve weld certifications in line with Joy Global/Komatsu Quality standards.
  • Apply advanced trade mathematics for measurement and fabrication challenges.
  • Interpret complex drawings and specifications for project accuracy.
  • Use precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Analyze and maintain detailed reports and records for effective communication.
  • Exhibit mechanical aptitude and competence in using machinist measuring instruments.
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay current with industry practices and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years' hands-on experience with carbon arc gouging and FCAW welding electrodes.
  • Ability to pass a 1" weld certification test within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Proficiency in interpreting welding blueprints and performing precise welds.
  • Solid understanding of welding safety protocols.
  • Strong mathematical skills relevant to trades for effective measurement and calculation.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and manage individual workload.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and skills development in welding.
