Overview

DXP is a company dedicated to providing high-quality customer service and innovative solutions for industrial customers since 1908. They are looking for a Temporary Welder to join their team, who will be responsible for various welding tasks and equipment fabrication.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG and Flux-cored welding.
  • Weld carbon steel, steel, and stainless steel.
  • Receive instructions, prints, and work orders for the job.
  • Plan details of working procedure, tools, and material requirements.
  • Fabricate equipment by cutting, burning, and welding various metals.
  • Repair equipment using welding techniques and appropriate welding equipment.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces to be welded.
  • Set up, assemble, and tack weld parts.
  • Build up worn or defective surfaces.
  • Use burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and cut material to size and shape.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly.

Requirements

  • 5 years of welding experience.
  • Familiarity with iron worker, plasma cutter, pipe threader, and grinders.
  • Background check, physical, and drug test required.
  • Welding certificate.

  • Day shift, Monday through Friday 6am to 5pm.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and Flux-Core work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. Flux-cored (FCAW) runs a hollow wire filled with flux, combining MIG-like deposition rates with the outdoor tolerance of stick. It is the workhorse on heavy structural steel and shipbuilding, where thick sections and long welds reward speed.
