Overview

The Sign Fabricator position involves assembling and fabricating roadway safety signs and related products, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards. The role requires operating various fabrication equipment and maintaining a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble roadway safety signs, signposts, and related products according to plans and work orders.
  • Read and interpret bills of materials to determine necessary materials and specifications.
  • Apply reflective sheeting, overlays, and graphics using applicating and laminating equipment.
  • Cut, drill, and finish substrates to meet job specifications.
  • Incorporate special customer requests noted on work orders.
  • Safely operate saws, applicating machines, presses, and other fabrication equipment.
  • Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance, reporting malfunctions to a supervisor.
  • Follow equipment operating procedures and lockout/tagout protocols.
  • Apply quality standards for materials and workmanship consistently.
  • Inspect completed signs for accuracy and compliance with specifications.
  • Identify and flag material defects or fabrication errors.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with safety standards.
  • Properly store raw materials and finished products.
  • Follow safety guidelines and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Report safety hazards and incidents to management.
  • Conduct daily work in compliance with company policies.
  • Support other production tasks and special projects as assigned.
  • Cross-train on additional production processes and equipment as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1+ year of sign assembly or fabrication experience preferred but not required.
  • 1+ year of general manufacturing or production experience preferred but not required.
  • Entry-level candidates with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders and bills of materials.
  • Basic math skills for measuring and cutting materials.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort operating powered shop equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and safety procedures.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn new equipment, materials, and production techniques.
